At Bell Park North Primary School, our STEM program provides hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that build curiosity and scientific thinking. In Science, students take part in guided investigations exploring topics such as Weather and Seasons, Forces and Movement, Energy and Materials. They make predictions, test ideas and record findings through discussions, drawings, models and simple data collection.
Technology is embedded across all year levels, with students developing skills in coding, robotics and 3D design. Through our Robotics program, students use age-appropriate kits and coding platforms to create programs that control movement and actions. Students also use digital design tools such as Makers Empire to develop problem-solving skills and confidence in using technology to bring their ideas to life.
Engineering learning encourages students to think like designers and builders as they collaboratively design, test and improve structures and prototypes. Mathematics is integrated throughout STEM learning, with students measuring, recording and representing data using simple tables and graphs to support scientific investigations.
Looking ahead, our upcoming Aviation Project will explore flight, forces and design. Students will investigate how aircraft fly and apply their learning by designing and testing their own flying models, bringing together Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics in a real-world context.
